I live in a rural area of California, USA. Compared to San Francisco it is affordable. A 45 year old house with three bedrooms and two baths on about a 1/4 acre fetches nearly 350,000! REE-Diculous. The newer and fancier houses around here are closer to half a million US dollars.

This is my first post after many years of reading this site
by And He Ran inthis is my first post after many years of reading this site.
i am from the west midlands, england.
i was raised as a jw and got baptised aged 17, started "fading" whilst at university when i started to broaden my outlook and realised that all the so-called "worldly people" i had for so long been encouraged to avoid associating with were actually often open-minded, honest, generous and loyal people.

I am also fading in my own way.
My wife's dad is a devout witness. He was baptised over 50 years ago. But he is like no other witness I know. He actually reads his bible and tries hard to imitate Christ. Sounds more like a Christian than a JW to me! LOL

The Witnesses want it both ways.
by isnrblog inthe bible says in matthew 7:13:
"go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; 14 whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.
but the watchtower 2/15/06, page 12 says:

The manipulation is sickening...
by AuroraB inso, i just had another run-in with the moms.
totally unrelated to the truth, but we just disagree on so many things, and instead of being respectful and agreeing to disagree, i got the standard, "something is wrong with your thinking and you're going to have a hard time of it if you don't change.
" or, in other words, start to believe what she believes.

She is your mom and you should always behave respectfully towards her. If she is locked into that sort of do it or else mentality, I suggest you do as I do. I treat whoever it is with respect and then I do what I feel is right. Above it was mentioned that there is no gray with the witnesses. I agree with that statement. Unfortunately, they don't see gray as even God does. The Bible is full of situations where did God not only give some slack over a situation but he actually bent some of His rules way out of shape.....
So if she can't see eye to eye with you, please remember she gave you life, raised you to her best ability, and cared for you. She also loves you and whatever she says is coming from her heart. Treat her well and then do what you think is best for YOU to do.....Just my 2 cents worth.....

How many JWs do you know that have "Failure to Launch" Syndrome
by BBOARD intired of the hypocrisy's post got me thinking ... how many jw "kids" over the age when they should have left home still live with their parents.
i say this because i have many of those in my congregation.
fyi it looks real bad to be a older man (ie 25 and up) scrub laying up at home unless you have a outstanding circumstance i.e.

Ha I know about 5 families like this. One guy is just a lazy hump. The others are locked into the mentality of stay home til I am married. This is fine, except some of these kids are in hteir 30's! Nice looking girls some of them too. One neighbor went up to my wife's uncle and asked him outright, "Why don't they ever come out or date? Are you keeping them in there for your own pleasure?" He got hella mad but didn't deny it! He is a perv too, my wife's uncle I mean. He drinks too much and makes lude comments all day long. He started pioneering and no one in the cong or the family could believe they let his ass go out and preach. He came home the other day and said he had so much fun. All the husbands working in the fields like animals and him enjoying their wives! What an ass.

Tired of the Hypocrisy
My opinion is this: An Almighty Creator is out there. I believe He loves us and that we should try to make peace with Him. I just don't believe that He can be found in the watchtower. If He ever was there I don't think He is there anymore......
